Biography

My philosophy is based on the self-realization that is attained through the creative process and the craft in making art. I think of it as "pushing the envelope" - to transcend the experience of art into a complex vocabulary of skills and techniques...then to achieve the ability to create a remarkable object...and, finally, that this creation will have a significant impact on humanity.

The contribution to be made by this achievement lies in the continued improvement of a process creating objects with a greater vision each time. A dynamic process of growth, I refer to as "an aesthetic conclusion". It is discovered with every sequential development of a new idea. The challenge is that each idea is more dynamic than the proceeding one. Profound knowledge reveals itself through the creative process from a pure synergy in that, the content of knowledge and experience are the drivers of expansion and vision.

I have come to the conclusion that art is a multi-dimensional formation of complex relationships and that, ultimately, this produces an object. In fact, the value of the object lies in its ability to be something unique and remarkable as an object.

Pythagoras is believed to have coined the words "philosophy" (love of wisdom) and "mathematics" (that which is learned). I believe that as words define those things that are most important to our definition of self, art is the translation of those same but most important definitions... The complex equation that we refer to as art is still governed by its definition as Webster's Dictionary explains it: "skill acquired by experience or study; the use of skill and imagination in the production of things of beauty." It refers to an artist as one who creates things of beauty. I believe that art must be an inspired creation of those things that have a great purpose and genuine beauty, and because these things are not only physical but also spiritual and intellectual, we must qualify whether these things do in fact reflect that greatness.

To ask this fundamental question about the meaning and the purpose of art, is precisely the issue, as it defines who we are as a civilization and how we fundamentally define ourselves as individuals. Defining myself as an artist, I believe that the validity of our craft is measured by my ability to navigate the direction to an outstanding aesthetic conclusion. Transcendence and freedom come from my understanding of this profound knowledge. I believe that the clear intention of greatness, expansive vision, a dynamic purpose, and skillful leadership as a community of artists, we cannot reveal our true potential.
